I still have the two questions from above:
1) Is there a way to force one particular post into the “featured” section at the top?
2) Is there a special way to change the graphic in the wrap (other than changing the index.php)?If these are outside the boundaries of what you’re looking for in the way of comments that’s fine; just let me know. Thanks again!

Hi there,
1. if you want a particular article appear in the featured area, you can make that article sticky. Open the article from your dashboard. There’s PUBLISH option in the right side of article editor. Click edit in the visibility: public option. give mark in the “Stick this post to the front page” option and click update post.
2. sorry, i dont get what you mean with the graphic in the wrap. did you mean the background image? if that’s what you meant, just replace grunge.jpg in images forlder of this theme, with your own image. You should name your image grunge.jpg tooregards

I am getting this error and the sidebar and footers are not displaying:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/xxx/public_htm/lxxx/wp/wp-content/themes/BlackStone/comments.php on line 1

thanks for your input. we have investigation about your problem and we find why sidebar and footer does’nt appear in your home page. it is because there is crash batwen themes (black stone) and your plug in (page navi). to solve the problem just disable your page navi plug in, if you woory about your pagenation calm down dude because our themes have their own pagination. I hope it can help you. good luck.

Sorry if I am slow here, but I don’t see a plugin called page navi, or what looks like a page navigation plugin. I have tried deactivating the plugins that affect the page display but still can’t seem to find the one that is causing my issue.

actuallay, your problem is really confusing.
it said, parse error, unexpected ‘}’ on line 1
but if you open comments.php, there’s no ‘}’ on its line 1
maybe, blackstone comments.php file get accidently exchanged with other comments.php
try re-download the theme, and re-install it

Deleted the folder on the server, re-downloaded and uploaded. Still have same issue. Nothing is displaying afer the four posts. No sidebar or footer.

I love the look and feel of this theme. But at the same time I’m having the following two issues:
1. I can no find out how to get a picture to display in the “featured” block?
2. I am finding it presently impossible to place any widget in to sidebar 2, 3 & 4Please explain what I’m missing or doing incorrectly.

Hi, for your question
No. 1 : First you should change your permission file in folder BlackStone themes >> /wp-content/themes/BlackStone with 755 or 777, and try to refresh your web. If it does not work, you can asking your hosting service section. Sometimes several hosting, for security reasons do not allow some script like timthumb.php.No.2 : if your site has been installed the plugin wp-pagenavi? you should disable the plugin first. Because our theme, by default using pagenavi.

Re: 1 I didn’t have to change any permissions in the directory it was already set to “755″. As to the host .. I am the hosting company owner. I’ve asked our tech support guys to get back to me about “timthumb.php”. This is likely a stupid question but why not have GD or Imagemajik manipulate the images and avoid this issue?
Re: 2 It was not and is not installed.
And now No photos attached to any of the articles on the front page are being displayed. If you enter the article, the pictures are there. But on the front page all I get is a placeholder.
Any more suggestions?

@ddhservices : We have done some expriments, and found that the permission file of cache folder must be change with 777, only the cache folder, in wp-content/themes/BlackStone/scripts/cache.
I hope it will work.

@ddhservices : Your image must be uploaded to the hosting your site, not pictures taken from other sites.
Em … I’m also confused, they should be working. What if you try to install wordpress on your computer (offline) and try to make an article accompanied by pictures. Then activate the theme Blackstone. (don’t forget to change permission file of folder cache with 777).-
Image must be located on the same site as the blackstone theme – e.g.: http://blog.rockslax.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/matt_yager.jpg As you can see the image is physically locaed in the same website, on the same server, etc.

I doubt this would even work . Our servers are Linux / Apache pretty standard. My office workstation however runs Win 7 64-bit pro and is not a server.

@ddhservices : I am also confused why still not able to work. We have tried on some servers such as HostMonster, HostGator and SiteGround. It worked. Previously we had problems on the HostGator hosting, and they mentioned that the script timthumb.php should be in the whitelist, because the script by default blocked by their servers, for security reasons.

Hi, thanks for your question, em…you can try to change your permission file with 777 just folder cache in wp-content/themes/BlackStone/scripts/cache. I hope it will work.
If it still doesn’t work you can ask with your hosting support, to whitelist script timthumb.php. Because sometimes several hosting, for security reasons do not allow some script like timthumb.php.-

I find this interesting: The feature box uses timthumb for a small picture (included with the theme package) where it says ‘featured’ in the upper left corner of the box. This image is in the ‘images’ folder whereas images added to posts go to the ‘upload’ folder. The ‘feature’ image shows up correctly…and uses timthumb. So it would seem that timthumb IS being allowed by the server. But for some reason timthumb is not working with uploaded pics. Did i make sense?

indeed, that’s interesting, and more confusing now…if default featured image displayed correctly, then timthumb.php is allowed, and already whitelisted by the server
the uploaded image should be displayed correctly tooall i can suggest is, just contact your hosting support to fix this
maybe it’s good idea to release two version of this theme, one using timthumb.php and other not
i’ll ask other dynamicwp team member to discuss this idea

Can you tell me some thing, i am seeing a horizontal scroll bar on my blog on 1028 x 768, can tell me any fix?

This is a beautiful theme, job well done! I’m already working with it to make a new website, and I have a couple questions.
1) Is there a way to force one particular post into the “featured” section at the top?
2) Is there a special way to change the graphic in the wrap (other than changing the index.php)?
